For the past year, Disneyland Resort Cast Members have been wearing a Disney 100 Nametag. Now that the Disney 100 celebration has come to an end, Disneyland Resort Cast Members will be getting a new nametag to wear.
Today, Ken Potrock, President of the Disneyland Resort, announced that all Disneyland Resort Cast Members will be wearing new colorful and bright nametag that represents the resorts optimism for the future with the Disneyland Forward project and the enthusiasm for the future expansion of the resort.
Here’s a look at the image shared by Ken.
Nametags have a long history with the Walt Disney Company and especially Disneyland. As a Disney Cast Member, all front of the house and back of the house Cast Members wear nametags on a daily basis. Even if you work off-site away from the parks or in an office building like Team Disney, all Cast Members are expected to wear their nametag.
Nametags for Cast Members represent a friendly environment for the Walt Disney Company where everyone is on first name basis. It is something that Walt wanted so that everyone who works for the Walt Disney Company has the same level of respect for one-another. Even Ken Potrock is called Ken by Cast Members and not Mr. Potrock.
Over the years, the nametag has evolved. The older nametags only had the cast members first name on them and were oval shaped with Mickey Mouse above the name. In the 1990’s, the nametag changed shape adding an arch above the oval shape displaying different celebration logos and characters. During that change, the cast member’s hometown and state were added to the nametag.
I really like the new Disneyland Resort nametags. I want to get a job at the Disneyland Resort just so I can get one of these nametags. LOL! What do you think of the new nametags? Let me know!
