A new Avatar experience is coming to Disney California Adventure Park that will send guests on an adventure of a lifetime in search of majestic natural wonders that can only be found on Pandora. And today, the Disneyland Resort revealed the location for the new Avatar destination along with construction updates.
The new Avatar destination will take over a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area at Disney California Adventure Park. The project is still in the early stages of development so additional details will be shared later, including construction timeframes.
Unfortunately, to make way for this new experience, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close permanently in early 2026.
At this time, only Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! has been announced as closing in the Hollywood Backlot area for the Avatar destination but some of the food & beverage locations in the area could also potentially close to make way for the experience. More details should be coming later this year or early 2026.
