If you follow my blog, you know that all Disneyland Magic Key passes increased in price last week along with general Disneyland one-day/one-park tickets and multi-day park tickets. And even though the cost to visit a Disneyland Resort theme park has increased, the one-day/one-park tickets and multi-day park tickets are still usually the best bet for anyone who only visits the Disneyland Resort theme parks two or three days a year. However, if you typically visit a Disneyland Resort theme parks four or more days in a year, a Magic Key pass may be a better option for you. With four different Magic Key pass types to choose from, a Magic Key pass may save you money and allow you the opportunity to visit the theme parks even more days throughout the year.

If you are not familiar with a Disneyland Magic Key pass, it is Disneyland’s name for their annual pass. The resort renamed their annual passes to Magic Keys after the pandemic as well as changed some of the benefits that each type of Magic Key pass offers.

Currently all of the Disneyland Magic Key pass types are only available for renewal but the resort has stated that new Magic Key pass sales will resume later this year. So, before that happens, now is the time to decide if a Disneyland Magic Key pass is right for you. And if so, which Magic Key pass will work best for you.

Magic Key Prices

First, let’s look at the four different Magic Key pass types and their current price:

Magic Key TypeAnnual Price
Inspire Key$1,749.00
Believe Key$1,374.00
Enchant Key$974.00
Imagine Key$599.00

For many of us, price is a key factor when making purchases. But, in addition to the price, you should look at the benefits and blockout days for each Magic Key pass type to see which pass works best for you and your future plans. Below, we break down each of the four Magic Key pass types for you so that you can compare the benefits and blockout days for each pass type.

Magic Key Pass Types

Inspire Key

First, there is the Inspire Key which is the highest tier Magic Key pass type that the Disneyland Resort offers. The Inspire Key allows you to visit the Disneyland Resort theme parks most days of the year (subject to availability of park reservations allocated to Magic Key passes). The only blockout dates for this pass are the two weeks around Christmas and New Years Day. So, anyone with an Inspire Key can potentially access a Disneyland Resort theme park 351 days in an year assuming they are able to obtain a park reservation every day of the year.

The Inspire Key also has the best benefits of all of the Magic Key pass types. The Inspire Key includes a 25% discount off the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Pass on days when you use your Magic Key pass for park admission, up to 20% off select merchandise, up to 15% off select dining, unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads and standard theme park parking at the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure, Pixar Pals Parking Structure and Toy Story Parking Area.

And while the Inspire Key has a hefty price of $1,749 per year, the pass can pay for itself in only 11 theme park visits.* Plus the Inspire Key allows you to hold up to 6 theme park reservations at a time. And Inspire Key holders sometimes get a special presale day for special event tickets.

Believe Key

The second highest Magic Key pass type is the Believe Key. This Magic Key has several blockout days throughout the year including about three weeks around Christmas and New Years Day, Easter week and several weekend days throughout the year. Overall, the Believe Key is not a bad pass type assuming you don’t mind being blocked out of the theme parks on weekends and holidays.

The Believe Key also has some great benefits but not quite as good as the Inspire Key. The Believe Key includes a 25% discount off the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Pass on days when you use your Magic Key pass for park admission, up to 10% off select merchandise, up to 10% off select dining, unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads and 50% off standard theme park parking at the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure, Pixar Pals Parking Structure and Toy Story Parking Area.

The price for a Believe Key is $1,374 per year and the pass can pay for itself in only 9 theme park visits.* Just like the Inspire Key, the Believe Key allows you to hold up to 6 theme park reservations at a time. So, if you don’t mind the additional blockout days and the lower discount percentages, the Believe Key may be a right fit for you.

Enchant Key

The Enchant Key is the lowest tier Magic Key pass available to non-Southern California residents. This Magic Key type has quite a few blockout days throughout the year including about three weeks around Christmas and New Years Day, Easter week, every Saturday, most Sundays, all of the month of July and most of the month of June.

The Enchant Key has similar benefits to the Believe Key. The Enchant Key includes a 25% discount off the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Pass on days when you use your Magic Key pass for park admission, up to 10% off select merchandise, up to 10% off select dining and 25% off standard theme park parking at the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure, Pixar Pals Parking Structure and Toy Story Parking Area. The main difference in benefits is the Enchant Key does not include unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads and has a lower parking discount.

The price for an Enchant Key is $974 per year which can pay for itself in only 6 theme park visits.* The Enchant Key only allows you to hold up to 4 theme park reservations at a time. But, if you only visit the Disneyland Resort theme parks a few times a year and can plan for the blockout days, this Magic Key type might be a good fit for you.

Imagine Key

The Imagine Key is only available for Southern California Residents living in zip codes 90000 to 93599. This Magic Key type has a lot of blockout days throughout the year including the entire months of December, June and July along with Easter week, every Saturday, most Sundays and a handful of other blockout dates throughout the year.

The Imagine Key benefits include a 25% discount off the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Pass on days when you use your Magic Key pass for park admission, up to 10% off select merchandise, up to 10% off select dining and 25% off standard theme park parking at the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure, Pixar Pals Parking Structure and Toy Story Parking Area. This key type does not include unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads and has a lower parking discount.

The price for an Imagine Key is $599 per year and it can pay for itself in only 4 theme park visits.* The Imagine Key only allows you to hold up to 2 theme park reservations at a time. So, if you are a Southern California Resident living in zip codes 90000 to 93599 and don’t mind all of the blockout days, this Magic Key pass type is a great value that still offers discounts on merchandise, food and more.

In addition to the discounts that the Disneyland Resort offers to Magic Key pass holders, several third party vendors at Downtown Disney District also offer Magic Key holders a discount. Plus, many of the non-Disney hotels near the Disneyland Resort also offer Magic Key pass holders a discount on room rates. And if that’s not enough, the Disneyland Resort offers special giveaways and experiences for Magic Key pass holders throughout the year. So, overall, there are amazing benefits to being a Disneyland Magic Key pass holder in addition to theme park admission.

Compare Costs

While I can’t tell you if a Magic Key pass is right for you nor which pass you should purchase, I will say that if you visit the Disneyland Resort four or more times a year, I definitely recommend comparing the cost of a one-day/one-park ticket and/or multi-day park tickets to the cost of a Magic Key pass. And don’t only compare the cost of theme park admission, but also take into account discounts, parking, hotel stays, and any other benefit that apply when deciding if a Magic Key pass is right for you. And no matter which option you pick, you can always change your mind and upgrade or downgrade your selection in the future.

As a reminder, all of the Disneyland Magic Key pass types are currently only available for renewal. At the time of renewal, a pass type can be upgraded or downgraded to a different pass type. Also, when new Magic Key pass sales resume, a Magic Key pass can be upgraded to a different pass type if available. Magic Key pass sales will resume later this year and I will post dates & information as soon as it becomes available
