For the first time in forever, you will be able to experience the Broadway hit musical Disney Frozen right in your living room when a LIVE filmed performance comes to Disney+ in 2025.
The Broadway hit musical Frozen was filmed LIVE onstage and will be available to stream on Disney+ in 2025. The filmed performance features Samantha Barks as Elsa with music by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
Disney Frozen, the hit Broadway Musical, is based on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 2013 film Frozen. The musical tells the story of two sisters, Anna and Elsa, who are pulled apart by Elsa’s secret magical “frozen” powers. While Elsa tries to control her powers, Anna tries to help her and finds her true love along the way.
Disney Frozen officially opened on Broadway on March 22, 2018. The musical played on Broadway through March 11, 2020, when performances were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the Broadway show did not resume after the pandemic lockdown, a North American tour was already underway. The touring musical began performances on November 10, 2019, with a temporary suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The North American tour ended on September 1, 2024 after having played 1,225 performances in 62 cities.
Across the ocean, the hit musical also began playing at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in London’s West End on September 8, 2021 starring Samantha Barks as Elsa. The London West End show played for three years and ended on its third anniversary. A London West End performance was filmed LIVE before the show concluded and will be released on Disney+ in 2025. An exact release date on Disney+ has not been announced at this time.
