At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, CA, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced that Zootopia 3 is officially in the works! Ginnifer Goodwin (Judy Hopps) and Ke Huy Quan (Gary De’Snake) appeared at the D23 presentation along with Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Chief creative officer Jared Bush saying “the world of Zootopia is about to go to the birds.”
Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) are expected to return to Zootopia 3 which will have a “bird-themed” storyline while introducing “bird” characters.
Zootopia 3 will be the third installment in the Zootopia movie franchise, preceded by Zootopia in 2016 and Zootopia 2 in 2025. The movie is currently in early development and Disney has not announced an official release date yet but the film is estimated to be released in theaters 2029 or 2030.
While the third Zootopia film is still a few years out, Zootopia and Zootopia 2 are now available to stream on Disney+.
