Toy Story 5: Streaming Now on Disney+

What happens when a child’s attention shifts from toys to a screen? That question drives Toy Story 5, where Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and their friends face a new challenge in Bonnie’s playroom. Will playtime ever be the same?

The fifth Toy Story film opened in theaters on June 19, 2026 and quickly became the highest-grossing film in the franchise. Now the film is available for purchase on Blu-ray & DVD as well as available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.

The first Toy Story film was released in 1995. The next three films in the franchise are Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010), and Toy Story 4 (2019). Toy Story 5 is the first film in the franchise to have a PG rating due to thematic elements and rude humor. The thematic elements refer to Bonnie becoming obsessed with the smart tablet named Lilypad. And the rude humor refers bathroom humor and jokes about bodily functions from the new potty-training toy character named Smarty Pants.

Bonnie’s tablet brings a new rival into playtime

The premise of Toy Story 5 is “Toy meets Tech.” Bonnie gets a tablet called Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee, and the device arrives with its own ideas about what Bonnie needs. The toys’ roles are challenged as Lilypad competes for a place in her attention.

That setup gives the story a clear point of tension: a familiar playroom now includes a device with a different kind of pull. The film raises questions about screen time, imagination, and what play means. The toys have always had to adjust when a child’s life changes or when new toys enter the playroom. But this time, their challenge comes from a new presence called technology.

The Toy Story 5 cast brings back familiar voices

Tom Hanks returns as Woody, and Tim Allen returns as Buzz Lightyear. Joan Cusack also returns as Jessie. Other returning voices includes Annie Potts as Bo Peep, Bonnie Hunt as Dolly, Wallace Shawn as Rex, John Ratzenberger as Hamm and Blake Clark as Slinky Dog. The voice-cast also includes new names such as Greta Lee from TRON: Ares as Lilypad , Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants and Craig Robinson as Atlas.

Andrew Stanton directs and co-writes the film

Andrew Stanton directs Toy Story 5 with co-director Kenna Harris. Stanton and Harris are also the screenplay writers. Stanton has a long history at Pixar, including writing and directing Finding Nemo and WALL-E.
