Everyone loves visiting the Disneyland Resort, but a little planning in advance can make your trip a little more enjoyable no matter what time of year you visit. Here are a few tips for visiting the Disneyland Resort in February 2025.

Crowd forecast

Crowds or the lack of crowds can sometimes make or break a trip. While you should always expect at least moderate crowds throughout the year at the Disneyland Resort, there are a few days throughout the year when crowds aren’t too bad. For February, you can expect the heaviest crowds for the weekend of February 14-17. This is a holiday weekend celebrating Presidents’ Day so many schools and businesses are closed on the 17th which means more people in the parks.

The lowest crowds are expected on most Tuesdays through Thursdays during the day but keep in mind that fireworks are not available as part of the nighttime entertainment Monday-Thursday nights. However, the days of Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts’ Nite which are February 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 2025, you can expect the lowest crowds of the month with the shortest wait times at Disneyland Park. Because of the after-hours event, Disneyland Park will close early at 8pm on these nights, but during the day until 6pm when the special event crowds start to mix in, the park typically has very low crowds. Because one of the event nights is on Sunday, February 9, there will be no fireworks this evening but only Mickey’s Mix Magic with Projections at 7:30pm.

Plan for cold weather

People unfamiliar with Southern California may think it is always hot and sunny in California, but that is not always the case. And while it can be hot and sunny in February, Southern California weather in February is usually cool with potential rain. About 5-10 days before your planned visit to the Disneyland Resort, start checking a weather app to view the weather forecast during your visit. Even if you see highs in the 70s, I suggest planning for cool mornings and cool nights. Sunset is usually around 5:30pm in February which leaves quite a few hours of cool weather in the parks. Plan on wearing jeans (or your most comfortable pants) and long-sleeves. Even if the mid-day temperatures are in the 60s and 70s, you might feel comfortable with a short-sleeved t-shirt during the day but you will definitely want a hoodie, sweatshirt or heavy jacket from just before sunset to park close.

Highs in February are typically in the mid to low 60’s with a few days in the low 70s. In February, wearing shorts are usually not a good idea unless you plan on leaving the parks early or going back to your room to change in the evenings. In the sun, it can sometimes feel really warm during the day. But when the sun goes down in the evenings, the temperatures drop and it can get really cold.

Buy tickets in advance and make park reservations

Disneyland theme parks require reservations for each park visit so buying theme park tickets in advance give you the opportunity to make theme park reservations in advance. Theme park reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance. So, by purchasing your theme park tickets in advance, you can guarantee that the dates you plan to visit the park are available as well as are reserved for you and your party. Keep in mind that once park reservations allotted for a specific day are all reserved, those specific days become blocked out. Also, purchasing tickets in advance can save you money since admission prices can increase at any time.

Check the blockout date calendar

If you are a Disneyland Magic Key holder, theme park reservations are also required. Plus all Magic Key passes have blockout dates throughout the year. While the Inspire Key is only blocked out the two weeks around Christmas and New Years Day, other Magic Key passes have several blockout dates throughout the year. Checking the calendar for blockout dates can save you from being disappointed down the road.

Plan dates for your visit

Disneyland Resort theme parks no longer have an “off season”. Crowds tend to vary daily but weekdays tend to be busier. Mondays are typically a less expensive day for a one-day park ticket; however, Mondays are also one of the busiest days of the week because of the lower ticket price. Weekends and holidays are usually more expensive for one-day park tickets but sometimes include more entertainment. Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts’ Nite take place on February 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 2025. On these nights, Disneyland Park will close early at 8pm so if you planning a visit on these days, you might want to consider adding the Park Hopper option to your ticket to allow for more hours in the park since Disney California Adventure Park will be open until 10pm on event nights.

Special events

The Lunar New Year celebration is currently going on at Disney California Adventure Park through February February 16, 2025. The event offers special Asian inspired food, festival decor, special entertainment and Disney characters at Disney California Adventure Park. This special event can attract large crowds but also offer special experiences during your park visit. So while you might be able to experience limited time events and offerings, you may experience a crowded theme park with longer wait times and walkway congestion.

Check the refurbishment calendar

Check our weekly “Know Before You Go” blog post for the latest updates on refurbishments at the Disneyland Resort. While the refurbishment calendar can change at any time, make sure your favorite attractions, food & beverage locations and merchandise shops will be open during your visit. The refurbishment calendar is only available for just over 40 days out; however, knowing in advance if an attraction or other experience will be closed during your visit will help avoid disappointment after you have arrived at the park. Here are the current refurbishments on the calendar for February 2025:

The Disneyland Half Marathon RunDisney weekend takes place from January 30–February 2, 2025.
