The Magic of Disney Animation opening soon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

An all-new experience is opening soon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California. Starting September 14, guests will be able to experience The Magic of Disney Animation in a building reminiscent of the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank.

The Emmy Award-winning short film, Once Upon A Studio, inspired this brand-new experience coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The building will feature Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat just like the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California.

In the center of the reimagined Animation Courtyard courtyard, a building inspired by the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building is the new home to The Magic of Disney Animation complete with Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat sitting on top of the building (just like the real building in California).

New Experiences

Inside the building, guests will see portraits come to life before their eyes just like they did in Disney’s animated short Once Upon A Studio. And speaking of coming to life, Olaf from Disney’s Frozen will take center stage in “Olaf Draws!” where guests will learn how to draw Disney characters. And these are only a few of the new experiences that will be offered in The Magic of Disney Animation building. The complete list of experiences include:

Young animators will be able to explore a whimsical indoor play area called “Drawn to Wonderland” playground. The area will be filled with an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset and a Tulgey Wood exploration area, all inspired by the original Alice in Wonderland concept art from Disney Legend Mary Blair.

At “Off the Page!”, guests will also be able to meet some of their favorite characters including Mulan, Rapunzel, Chip ‘n Dale, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Stitch. Each character will meet guests in a unique space with incredible photo opportunities.

And in the “Once Upon A Studio Theater”, guests can enjoy the Emmy Award-winning short film that inspired this new experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Once Upon A Studio. Inside this dedicated theater honoring more than a century of Disney Animation storytelling, enhanced effects will add an extra layer of magic as guests enjoy the film.
