Test Track Presented by Chevrolet at EPCOT is currently closed and being reimagined. When the attraction reopens in 2025, it will be Test Track Presented by General Motors. When the attraction first opened in 1999, it was presented by General Motors. However, in 2012, the attraction was reimagined and was renamed Test Track Presented by Chevrolet, which is a division of General Motors.

Now, the attraction is going back to it’s roots and will be named Test Track Presented by General Motors – again. The attraction is scheduled to reopen late summer 2025 with an all-new storyline inspired by the original World of Motion attraction. The test car ride vehicles will have a new look and should begin testing on the track early in 2025.

Test Track presented by General Motors

World of Motion

World of Motion was an opening day attraction when EPCOT Center opened on October 1, 1982 at the Walt Disney World Resort. The attraction was presented by General Motors and was the former occupant of the Test Track building.

The attraction took guests on a journey through the history of transportation from the invention of the wheel to present day advances in transportation. Omnimover vehicles transported guests through different scenes and periods in history. The attraction even featured a Pepper’s Ghost illusion (similar to the Haunted Mansion illusion) which put guests in futuristic vehicles. The ride part of the attraction disembarked guests into a large showroom featuring new vehicles developed by General Motors.

World of Motion closed on January 2, 1996 to transform the attraction and building into a new thrill ride type attraction themed around testing new General Motors vehicles. Also, in the mid-1990’s, Disney dropped the word “Center” from the theme parks name and the park was simply named EPCOT.
