About Darth Maul
Some casual Star Wars fans may only remember Darth Maul from the 1999 prequel film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. And while everyone who watched that film, saw the Shadow Lord cut in half and fall to his death after a lightsaber battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul actually survived as was revealed in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.
Maul lived in the outer rim after he was presumed dead and used the Force to construct spider-like legs to replace his own severed legs. After Maul’s brother Savage Opress finds Maul in the outer rim and brings him back to his home planet Dathomir, Maul is outfitted with a pair of cybernetic legs. From that point, a series of events take place which I will leave as a mystery in case you haven’t watched the complete series. Maul also appears in Star Wars Rebels which takes place several years after the events of The Clone Wars.
Now Maul will receive his own dedicated series in Lucasfilm Animation’s Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. Like other Star Wars stories, including Andor and the prequel trilogy, we have a sense of where things are going, but it’s the question of how we get there that makes this series such an enticing tale.
