runDisney races at the Disneyland Resort will go on hiatus in 2026

Even though runDisney races only returned to the Disneyland Resort in January 2024 after being on hiatus for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the races are once again going on hiatus in 2026 after the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend takes place January 29–February 1, 2026.

Due to the upcoming construction projects around the Disneyland Resort for the expansion of the resort as part of the DisneylandForward project, the runDisney races will have to go on hiatus while the resort transforms and expands with multiple construction projects happening around the resort over the next few years.

For those who are unaware, Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park has already begun construction on an expansion of the land that will include two new attractions. Also in 2026, construction will begin on an all-new Coco themed attraction at Disney California Adventure Park. And an all-new Avatar experience is also planned for Disney California Adventure Park even though a construction start date nor a location has been announced.

In addition, a new parking garage and transportation center is planned for the parking lot behind Harbor Boulevard that will free up the land between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park which is currently occupied as the bus transportation center on the east side of the resort. A construction start date for the new east side parking garage and transportation center has not been officially announced; however, based on the runDisney hiatus news, construction will most likely being in 2026.

The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend presented by HONDA will take place January 29–February 1, 2026. Registration has not opened for the event but this will be the last runDisney race to take place at the Disneyland Resort until several construction projects have been completed around the resort.
