Tonight at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Walt Disney Animated Studios released a new trailer for the upcoming sequel Moana 2 that will premiere in theaters on November 27, 2024.

Moana 2 takes place three years after the original Disney animated film. In the trailer, Moana’s little sister is introduced and greets Moana as she returns from a 3-day voyage. As a wayfinder, Moana feels that it is her job to connect her island with all of the people of the entire ocean as her ancestors wanted to do before Maui stole Ti Fiti’s heart. But, after hearing a call from her ancestors, Moana calls on Maui for help with her new journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. Along the way, Moana runs into the Kakamora again and is faced with a new battle.

Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson return as the voices of Moana and demigod Maui in Walt Disney Animated Studios’ all new animated film. The trailer features Moana, Maui, Hei Hei, Pua, Moana’s parents, the Kakamora and the residents of the island of Motunui.

Moana 2 is directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller. The film is produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino. Moana 2 features all new music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foaʻi, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.
