Today, NOLA (New Orleans, LA Local News) published an article on their website by Mike Scott about a tour one of their reporters recently took with Walt Disney Imagineer, Ted Robledo at the construction site of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. In the article, we learn a little about some of the new animatronics that will be coming to the attraction at both the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort later this year.
First, we learn that there will be a Louis the Alligator animatronic figure. Then, we learn that there will be several Tiana animatronic figures in the rethemed attraction. Ted Robledo also tells the reporter that all of the new animatronics in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will use the same high-technology that Disney used in the new World of Frozen attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland.
These new animatronics have not been installed in the attraction yet but the reporter tells us that large two-dimensional cutouts are currently being used as placeholders at the construction site. This could be because the animatronic figures are still being developed or mostly likely because the new animatronics need to be protected from damage during the construction even if they have been developed.
Ted also hinted to the reporter that there may be a few Splash Mountain “easter eggs” in the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction.
No opening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been announced yet for the two attractions on opposite coasts but both attractions should open sometime later this year.
Are you excited for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Or were you disappointed that Splash Mountain is being rethemed? I would love to hear from you!
