At the Disneyland Resort, some of the Downtown Disney District construction is coming to an end and three new restaurants, Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita, will be opening in only a few weeks with another new location opening this summer.

Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita opening May 2024!

Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita will all have their grand openings in May. These three new restaurant locations will feature dishes from Mexico’s first Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán.

A stunning staircase will lead you to Paseo’s show-stopping dining room and bar area lined with rich woods, tiles, textures, leathers and custom accents that celebrate Mexico’s craftsmanship culture. An extended upper patio will offer exceptional new views of the district! Paseo menu items will include colorful ceviches, Mama’s cochinita pibil (roasted marinated pork), lamb barbacoa and the mejillones (mussels) and many more culinary dishes.

Céntrico is taking over the space previously occupied by Uva Bar. This new courtyard bar and restaurant will serve upscale Mexican cuisine and tequila-based cocktails. Céntrico will feature an open air design with custom wood elements and lush greenery. Featured dishes will include quesabirrias, chicken enchiladas, tlayuda (a Oaxacan shareable dish reminiscent of a pizza with a perfect crunch) and one of Chef Gaytán’s favorites, Caesar salad.

And Tiendita, the third restaurant location opening in May, will offer quick-service Mexican street-food staples by Chef Gaytán’s. The restaurant will feature a self-ordering kiosk. Menu options will include esquites (roasted corn), fish tacos, ice cream- stuffed chocolate tacos, and breakfast favorites like chorizo breakfast burritos and chilaquiles (marinated tortilla chips with egg).

Din Tai Fung Opening This Summer

Din Tai Fung which is currently under construction on the West end of the Downtown Disney District, will open this summer. This new restaurant location will feature signature soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), wontons, noodles, steamed buns, bok choy, pork chop fried rice and other flavorful dishes served family style.

Steakhouse and BBQ Concepts Coming to Downtown Disney

Tortilla Jo’s officially closed their doors on March 31, 2024 in the Downtown Disney District. However, today, the Disney Parks Blog announced that two new restaurants will be taking over that area of the district. A steakhouse restaurant and an adjacent barbecue eatery are currently in the works. At this time, we do not know if these two new restaurants will be taking over the same building or if the building will be demolished for these new locations.

Marceline’s Confectionery Expansion

Marceline’s Confectionery in Downtown Disney is getting an expansion. If you’ve ever been in their current location, you know that it is small and extremely crowded throughout the day. But, the good news is that Disney is designing an all-new, expanded and completely reimagined confection experience for Marceline’s Confectionery! During the construction of Marceline’s, a temporary cart added to Downtown Disney where guests can pick up caramel apples, churro toffee and other handcrafted goodies.

Also, The Disney Dress Shop which was located next door to Marceline’s has temporarily moved to the WonderGround Gallery location to allow for the expansion project. Select items from WonderGround Gallery can currently be found in Disney Home. At this time, we do not know the exact fate of The Disney Dress Shop or the WonderGround Gallery. Assumptions are that The Disney Dress Shop will return to a smaller location, but in the same area adjacent to Marceline’s and the WonderGround Gallery will reopen at the same location following the completion of Marceline’s transformation.

That’s a Wrap!

If you have visited the Downtown Disney District over the last year, you must know that this is great news. The entire center of the district has been walled off and under construction for quite some time which has caused foot traffic congestion to the area throughout the day. Not to mention that the district has been in dire need of more restaurant locations even before the former Uva Bar & Cafe closed in 2023. Plus spreading out the crowds to the West end of the district to Din Tai Fung this summer will make visiting the district a much more pleasurable experience.

Are you looking forward Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita opening in May? And Din Tai Fung opening this summer? Plus, are you excite about the expansion of Marceline’s Confectionery? I think this is just the beginning of some major news coming from the Disneyland Resort because the DisneylandForward project goes before the Anaheim City Council for a final vote next week. And if approved, it will open up “a whole new world” for the Disneyland Resort.
