More Earl of Sandwich changes coming to Downtown Disney District

Earl of Sandwich is one of Downtown Disney Districts oldest tenants at the Disneyland Resort. They opened their first location in the district in 2012 in front of the AMC Theater building. Since then, Earl of Sandwich has been moved around the district from one location to another over the last several years. However, their adventure is finally coming to an end with a brand-new permanent location that is currently under construction on the West end of district. The new two-story Earl of Sandwich building is making great progress and is scheduled to open this winter. This newly constructed Earl of Sandwich location will offer a quick-service walk-up restaurant on the ground floor and a sit-down Earl of Sandwich Tavern and Bar on the second floor.

Earl’s Temporary Location

Throughout the transition at Downtown Disney District, Earl of Sandwich temporarily took over the old La Brea Bakery building on the East end of the district while waiting for their new location to be built on the West end. However, their stay in the old La Brea Bakery building has lasted for a few years with their West end location taking much longer than originally planned to be built.

The original plan was for Earl of Sandwich to stay in the building short-term and then move to their new location so that Porto’s Bakery could begin construction on the East end on the site which was formerly occupied by La Brea Bakery. However, the Porto’s Bakery deal seemed to be on and off for a while which gave Earl of Sandwich a home in the old La Brea Bakery building longer than originally expected. But now, Earl’s stay on the East end of the district is coming to an end in July and the building is set to be demolished to make way for a new building for Porto’s Bakery.

So what happens to Earl of Sandwich from July until this winter when their new building is ready for occupancy?

In the meantime, Earl of Sandwich has opened a pop-up location on the West end of Downtown Disney District near Star Wars Trading Post that will their temporary home until their new building is ready for them to move in.

Earl of Sandwich Pop-Up Location - Downtown Disney West Side

The pop-up location serves sandwiches, handcrafted wraps, fresh greens salads, artisan soups and much more. The hours of operation are 8am to 9pm Sunday through Saturday. There is seating just a few steps away near the Downtown Disney Stage for those who prefer to sit and eat.

So, even though you may see Earl of Sandwich closed on the East end of Downtown Disney District during your next visit to the Disneyland Resort, you can still pick-up some of your favorite menu items at their pop-up location on the West end of the district. And later this winter, you can once again enjoy quick service and table service dining at Earl’s brand new location currently under construction near the Downtown Disney Stage.
