Marvel Studios Announcements from SDCC

During Marvel Studios presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), a lot of announcements were made about the Marvel Cinematic Universe upcoming films. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and a huge list of celebrities including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford and Robert Downey Jr all took to the stage to make announcements about the studios upcoming films scheduled to be release over the next few years.

The Marvel Studios announcements from SDCC include Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Captain America: Brave New World

Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14, 2024 staring Anthony Mackie as Captain America. In the film, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) has officially taken up the mantle of Captain America. After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red – Red Hulk that is!

Thunderbolts

The cast of Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts took to the stage in Hall H for a special preview of the film. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige introduced the cast which will include Geraldine Viswanathan, Lewis Pullman (Sentry), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent John Walker), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova a.k.a. Black Widow), and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barns a.k.a. the Winter Soilder). The film is directed by Jake Schreier and will hit theaters May 2, 2025.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will begin production on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 and will hit theaters on July 25, 2025. The film will star Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing and Joseph Quinn as The Human Torch.

Avengers: Doomsday

Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo, known as the Russo Brothers, will return to direct Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. In a surprise announcement at SDCC, Robert Downey Jr. will return to the Marvel Universe as Doctor Doom in the upcoming film. The film is set to hit theaters May 2026.

Avengers: Secret Wars

Marvel Studios’ announced at SDCC that the Russo Brothers will also direct Avengers: Secret Wars which will hit theaters May 2027. No other information about Avengers: Secret Wars was announced.
