Lunar New Year begins today at Disney California Adventure Park and runs through February 18, 2024. This year is the Year of the Dragon so we can expect to see Mushu from Disney’s Mulan as a meet & greet.
Lunar New Year at DCA is one of my favorite festivals. I love “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession”, meeting Disney characters in their Lunar New Year costumes, the Asian-inspired food offerings, the Lunar New Year merchandise and the beautiful Lunar New Year décor around the park.
Lunar New Year Entertainment
“Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession” will be performed three times a day at 12:45pm, 2:30pm and 5:00pm throughout the celebration.
Also, “Hurry Home – A Lunar New Year Celebration” will be performed at 9:00pm each night before the performance of “World of Color – ONE”.
Lunar New Year Characters
For the Year of the Dragon, guests can expect to meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Mulan, Mushu and more Disney friends dressed in their Lunar New Year costumes. In previous years, the Three Little Pigs and Tigger were also part of the meet and greet rotation in Paradise Gardens Park.
We also learned last week that guests will be able to meet Meilin Lee and her mother Ming Lee from Disney Pixar’s Turning Red during the Lunar New Year Celebration. Their meet and greet will be on San Francisco Street which is the street beside “The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure” attraction building (the same location where the Zootopia characters normally do their meet and greet).
And in Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, guests can meet Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon. Her meet and greet times are scheduled daily from 2pm to 7:30pm. Since it is the Year of the Dragon, I was hoping there would be a Sisu from Raya and the Last Dragon meet and greet, but no luck.
Lunar New Year Food & Merchandise
During almost every festival at Disney California Adventure Park, there are plenty of different themed food offerings available to try plus lots of cool merchandise to buy.
Visit the Lunar New Year Marketplace booths along the parade route at Disney California Adventure Park to pick up a few Asian-inspired food offerings during the celebration. Click here to view the Foodie Guide for this years celebration.
And stop by the Lunar New Year Marketplace store in front of “The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure” attraction to pick up a few Lunar New Year merchandise items including a Mickey Mouse Year of the Dragon plush, t-shirts, a Spirit Jersey and more.

My favorite part of the Lunar New Year festival is the character meet and greets, “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession” and the merchandise.
