Magic Kingdom

The following attractions, food & beverage locations and/or merchandise shops are currently closed for refurbishment at Magic Kingdom Park:

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – January 6, 2025 – TBD
- In addition to the refurbishment of the attraction, new magic is coming to The Rainbow Caverns. The caverns are beautiful but they ain’t as friendly as they first appear. When you hear that menacing rumble from deep within the mountain, it may be a sign that we ain’t welcome. More details are coming soon!
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – August 4, 2025 – TBD 2026

Upcoming Refurbishments at Magic Kingdom Park:

No upcoming refurbishment are currently on the calendar for the Magic Kingdom

The Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island have officially closed to make way for a new Cars themed land with an off-road attraction in the reimagined area of Frontierland that will be named Piston Peak National Park. The concept art makes the area look beautiful but I still can’t understand why Disney couldn’t have built this same area somewhere else within the 28,000+ acres of the Walt Disney World Resort instead of destroying a beautiful attraction and the iconic Rivers of America.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Currently, no attractions, food & beverage locations and/or merchandise shops are closed for refurbishment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Upcoming Refurbishments at Disney’s Hollywood Studios:

Animation Courtyard and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! – September 25, 2025 – TBD 2026
Star Wars: Launch Bay – Closing permanently on September 25, 2025 to transform into the new The Magic of Disney Animation experience.

Monsters, Inc. Land at Disney Hollywood Studios

The Muppets and Monsters, Inc.

Grand Avenue – While this isn’t a refurbishment, the Muppets have moved from Grand Avenue to make way for the Monster, Inc. crew to move in. All of The Muppets locations on Grand Avenue have already closed, but Kermit, Miss Piggy and all of their Muppet friends are moving to Sunset Blvd. to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The Muppets locations on Grand Avenue closed on:
- Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano – Closed May 11, 2025
- Muppet*Vision 3D – Closed June 8, 2025
- PizzeRizzo – Closed June 8, 2025

Indiana Jones and Encanto Confirmed for Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Currently, no attractions, food & beverage locations and/or merchandise shops are closed for refurbishment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Zootopia: Better Zoogether! opens in the Tree of Life Theater on November 7, 2025
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! closed in the Tree of Life Theater on March 16, 2025 to be replaced with a new show, titled Zootopia: Better Zoogether!
DinoLand U.S.A. – DinoLand U.S.A. will soon become extinct at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While this isn’t a refurbishment, DINOSAUR will close sometime in 2026 to make way for the new Tropical Americas themed land with a projected 2027 opening date.

Disney Springs

There are currently no food & beverage or merchandise locations closed for refurbishment at Downtown Disney District.

Refurbishments

To maintain the look, cleanliness, safety and equipment, the Walt Disney World Resort regularly closes attractions to refurbish them for future guest enjoyment. Also, some attractions may close to be rethemed with a new and exciting story.

Unlike the Disneyland Resort, the Walt Disney World Resort refurbishment calendar does not change very often from week to week. However, refurbishment dates and attractions can change at any time so continue to check back weekly for updates.
