Earlier this month, D23 announced the membership kit for new & renewing D23 Gold Members for 2024. After I posted about this years membership kit, someone asked me if I thought a D23 Gold Membership was worth it? Is it worth the price? And what are the benefits of being a Gold Member?
First of all, I wanted to start by saying that everyone is different and has different values and interests. With that being said, it really depends on the person and if they value the perks and the membership kit available to D23 Gold Members. For me, a D23 Gold Membership is definitely worth the price because I absolutely love the membership kits (especially last years and this years membership kit) and the special events and discounts available to D23 Gold Members.
Let’s take a look at what is included with a D23 Gold Membership:
- Each D23 Gold Member receives the current years Collector Set / Membership Kit when they renew their membership or sign up as a new D23 Gold Member.
- A Membership Card & Certificate is included with each Collector Set / Membership Kit
- D23 Gold Members receive year-round discounts at shopDisney and access to limited release D23 pins and collectibles!
- D23 Gold Members have access to special and exclusive in-person and virtual events. Note that some in-person events have an associated cost.
- A D23 Gold Membership includes an annual subscription to the Disney twenty-three Magazine Publication and receive 4 issues each year.
- And this year, D23 Gold Members will receive first access to the D23 Ultimate Fan Event in Anaheim, CA along with a gift at the event.
All of the above points are included with a paid D23 Gold Membership for $99 per year. Or a Gold Duo Membership is $129.99 a year and includes all of the above with the addition of an additional membership card and double the access to events and offers.
So again, it all comes down to what you as a person value and your interests. Last year, my Gold Membership gave me access to a free preview screening of Disney Wish, lots of D23 exclusive pins on shopDisney.com, a shopping opportunity at the Walt Disney Company Store and Mickey’s of Glendale Store in Glendale, a year-round discount on shopDisney.com, a tour of the Walt Disney Studio Lot in Burbank (additional cost required), opportunity to attend “Rogers the Musical” preview at Disney California Adventure Park (additional cost required), opportunity to attend the Walt Disney Company 100 Years Royal Ball on the Studio Lot in Burbank (additional cost required) and an opportunity to attend the annual D23 Seasons of Light Holiday Party on the Studio Lot (additional cost required). These benefits were in addition to the 2023 Membership Kit and Disney twenty-three Magazine Publication Annual Subscription. Yes, I did pay extra for several of the opportunities noted above; however, as a D23 Gold Member, I did receive a discount when purchasing tickets to those events and received a gift at each event.
