The Country Bears are making a come back and taking over Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country at Disneyland. Not only is Critter Country getting new residents in the soon to open Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction plus two reimagined merchandise shops, but the land is also getting new restaurateurs. The Country Bears are also moving back in! But this time, they are moving into the Hungry Bear Restaurant and retheming it to Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.
Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree
On July 8, 2024, the Hungry Bear Restaurant at Disneyland park closed for a kitchen renovation while the rest of Critter Country was being reimagined for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. But today, Disney announced that when the restaurant reopens, it will be rethemed to Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. The Country Bears are back from their world tour and they’ve discovered some new barbecue dishes along the way. So they are taking resident in the currently closed Hungry Bear Restaurant and will transform the location to a newly rethemed Barbecue Jamboree. Guests will be able to sample reginal barbecue dishes while listening to the foot-stompin’ and finger-snappin’ greatest hits from the Country Bears.
An opening date for the newly reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree has not been announced yet but all of Critter Country should be reopening later this year when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure makes a “splash” and opens at the Disneyland Resort. More details will be available soon from Disney for an opening date of the land and the newly reimagined restaurant.
Country Bear Jamboree
On October 1, 1971, The Country Bear Jamboree opened as an original attraction at the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort. The attraction was so popular that Disney immediately made plans to add the attraction to a new area at Disneyland in California. The Disneyland Country Bear Jamboree attraction opened on March 4, 1972 in a new area of the park called Bear Country. However, in 2001, the attraction closed at Disneyland to make way for a new Winnie the Pooh attraction. However, parts of the Country Bear Jamboree attraction still remain in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh attraction building.
As the Winnie the Pooh Honeypot ride vehicles leave the Heffalumps and Woozles room, guests can still look up above the archway to see the Audio-Animatronic trophy heads of Max the buck, Buff the buffalo and Melvin the moose. These were in the second theatre of the Country Bear Jamboree attraction.
