The Nielsen 2023 Top 10 Streaming Movies and Programs results are in so let’s take a look at how Disney+ ranked.
2023 Top 10 Streaming Movies
For movies, Disney+ had 6 Top 10 Streaming Movies in 2023 including Moana as the top streamed movie of 2023. I am surprised to see Moana as the top streamed movie of 2023 because the movie was released in theaters over 7 years ago. Moana is a great movie but it was still surprising to see it in the #1 position. No wonder Disney decided to release a Moana sequel later this year. As a note, Moana was in the #4 position in 2022 for the Top 10 Streaming Movies and Encanto was #1.
Encanto took the #2 position in 2023, followed by Elemental as #4, Frozen as #7, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as #8 and Avatar: The Way of Water as #9. You can view the entire 2023 Top 10 Streaming Movies list below.
2023 Top 10 Overall Streaming Programs
For programs, Disney+ didn’t fair as well. Bluey, which is an acquired program and not owned by The Walt Disney Company, was the only program in the 2023 Top 10 Overall Streaming Programs.
2023 Top 10 Original Streaming Programs
And while The Mandalorian didn’t make it in the Top 10 Overall Streaming Programs, it did make the 2023 Top 10 Original Streaming Programs list in the #8 position. It is the only Disney+ program on the Original Streaming Programs list. Disney+ didn’t have any original programs on the 2022 Top 15 list.
2023 Top 10 Acquired Streaming Programs
Bluey is on the 2023 Top 10 Acquired Streaming Programs list in the #2 position. Bluey is not owned by The Walt Disney Company but the animated series is exclusive to Disney+ for streaming. It was the only Disney+ program on the Acquired Streaming Programs list. Heartland, which streams on Hulu (owned by Disney) was in the #9 position on the list.
