Today, Walt Disney Imagineering launched a new video series on YouTube and the first episode of the series was about audio-animatronics, with the focus being on the new animatronics being developed for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. As most Disney fans know, audio-animatronics have been a part of Disney Parks for over 60 years. But these life-like figures have advanced over the years, getting more and more life-like with every new attraction added to a Disney Park.
During the first episode of the Imagineers video series, they take us behind the scenes for a first look at several new animatronics coming to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The episode mostly focused on the Tiana and Louis the Alligator animatronic figures but we also get a look at Mama Odie, Prince Ralphie, Prince Naveen’s younger brother and Byhalia the Beaver.
We first learned about the attraction having a Louis the Alligator animatronic figure in an article published by the New Orleans Local News (NOLA) in January 2024. At that time, an image of Louis was not revealed. Today, the Imagineers video series really focused on Louis and how advanced the animatronic will be with amazing technology.
In the video, we also get a quick look at the Byhalia the Beaver animatronic. Byhalia is a strong-willed percussionist who is a member of the Bayou band. She helps build musical instruments for the other band members using natural materials from the bayou. You can see the top of Byhalia’s head in the lower right corner in the image below of Prince Ralphie playing the drums.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is sure to feature the latest in audio-animatronic technology. An official opening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has not been announced yet either coast. The attraction at the Magic Kingdom park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida should be opening sometime this summer. And, the Disneyland Park attraction in California will be opening later this year. Splash Mountain closed at the Magic Kingdom park about six months before the Disneyland Park attraction so it makes sense that the Florida attraction will be opening first since construction began at least six months before Disneyland. In Florida, Imagineers have been spotted testing the attraction so we should be hearing an official opening date very soon.
Here’s the first episode of the new Imagineers Video Series titled “We Call It Imagineering | Audio-Animatronics®”.
Are you excited for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to open at the Magic Kingdom park and at Disneyland Park? These animatronic figures look really cool. It is amazing to see the advancements in technology with audio-animatronics and the details that go into getting these figures ready for the attraction. The Louis the Alligator animatronic figure is absolutely amazing. I am very excited to see all of these animatronic figures come to life in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure later this year.
As always, I’ll “see ya real soon” Mouseketeers!
