Today, we bid farewell until next year to ‘A Musical Celebration of Coco‘ at Disney California Adventure Park in the Plaza de la Familia. This is a beautiful show that should return again next Fall, but I will definitely miss it until then.
Relive the Story of Coco
The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia along with the GRAMMY® Award-winning Mariachi Divas bring the story of Coco to life through song and dance. Mateo, the lead singer and storyteller, tells the story of how Miguel wanted to play music but his family had banned music from their house and would say “No Music”. So Miguel goes on a journey to learn about his great, great grandfather in the land of the dead and is surprised to learn that his new skeleton pal in the land of the dead, Hector, is not only his great, great grandfather but the one who wrote the hit songs that Ernesto de la Cruz was famous for.
The best part of this show, in my opinion, is when the Miguel puppet and his puppeteer arrive. Yes, Miguel is brought to life by a puppeteer to share his love of music with the crowd and perform two songs for the audience. The Miguel puppet is truly adorable and helps bring the story to life.
The songs performed during ‘A Musical Celebration of Coco’ include “Remember Me”, “Un Poco Loco”, “Proud Corazón” and “The World Es Mi Familia”.
After the show, guests were able to visit the gazebo in the Plaza de la Familia for a meet and greet with Miguel and one of his puppeteers.
¡Adiós Miguel hasta el año que viene!
