The King has returned! And the final trailer for Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King is now available. The trailer debuted this weekend at D23 Brazil but is now available to watch online (watch below).
Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, Mufasa: The Lion King enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.
Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King stars the voice talents of Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Blue Ivy Carter as Kiara, Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, John Kani as Rafiki, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka (who becomes Scar) and Tiffany Boone a Sarabi.
The film is directed by Barry Jenkins and produced by Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak with songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The live-action film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and will be released in U.S. theaters on December 20, 2024.
