Disneyland Resort Expansion Approved

Tonight, the Anaheim City Council officially approved the DisneylandForward project in a final vote of 7 to 0. The meeting was held at Anaheim City Hall with all of the City Council members attending. The City Council gave the project preliminary approval on April 17, 2024 with a vote of 7 to 0 but the project had go before the City Council one more time for a final vote before it was officially approved. Now that the DisneylandForward project has been officially approved, the project will go into effect in 30 days which is on June 6, 2024.

During Disney’s Q2 FY24 Earnings Results Webcast today, Bob Iger mentioned the DisneylandForward project as well as the final vote tonight and spoke about how the company wants to expand the Disneyland Resort. He also mentioned bringing Avatar to the Disneyland Resort again. Now that the project has been officially approved, we should start hearing some concrete news about what Disney has in mind for the Disneyland Resort. If nothing else, we should hear some exciting announcements on Saturday, August 10, 2024 during the Parks and Experiences presentation at D23 The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
