This past week was a pretty quiet week with news from the Disneyland Resort. That doesn’t mean that there wasn’t anything going on or low crowds. The resort is still pretty busy transforming into Christmas. Work continues again in ToonTown, construction continues at Downtown Disney and Disneyland Park is getting ready to open the new Adventureland Treehouse. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights that were recently announced including refurbishments, rumors and more.

Magic Happens

I heard from a very knowledgeable anonymous source this week that the Magic Happens parade will be returning to Disneyland Park on Friday, February 2, 2024. While my source is very reliable, this is only a “rumor” until Disneyland officially announces the parades return.

As more information becomes available, I will be sure to share it with you.

A Musical Celebration of Coco

A Musical Celebration of Coco

This past Thursday, November 2, 2023, ‘A Musical Celebration of Coco’ took it’s final bow for this year at Disney California Adventure Park in the Plaza de la Familia. The upbeat show included an adorable Miguel marionette puppet as well as the Grammy® Award-winning Mariachi Divas, a storyteller and fabulous dancers. Even though details will not be announced until next year, the show should return again next Fall.

I have a few recordings of this fabulous show on my YouTube channel if you want to watch the show during its hiatus. Below is one of those recordings.

New Adventureland Treehouse

The New Adventureland Treehouse Inspired by Walt Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson at Disneyland Park will finally open this Friday, November 10, 2023. Oddly enough, this is also the same day that the Christmas season kicks off at the Disneyland Resort.

Magic Key Holders can preview the treehouse on Thursday, November 9th from 11am to 7pm. Check-in for the preview is across from The Golden Horseshoe, near the Rivers of America. Magic Key Holders must present a valid Magic Key pass to participate in the preview and it is limited to Magic Key Holders ONLY. After check-in, guests may be given a designated return time to come back for the preview so plan your day accordingly.

Toontown Construction

Even though ToonTown at Disneyland only opened early this year in March, the land has constantly been under construction fixing issues ever since. Currently, Donald’s Duck Pond and Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard are both closed for refurbishment leveling out the ground beneath the turf but the walls are starting to come down. Both areas are scheduled to open back up this Friday, November 10th.

Foodie Guide to the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort

This past week, the Disneyland Resort released it’s Foodie Guide for the Holiday season at the Disneyland Resort. I admit that I am not much of a foodie but I do look forward to some of the “extras” like the Mickey Mouse Toy Solider Popcorn Bucket, the Donald Duck Sipper and the Chip and Dale Holiday Straw Clip. To see the entire Foodie Guide, you can read the full article on the Disney Blog by clicking here.

Downtown Disney

Construction continues in Downtown Disney on the west end expansion and the spot where the Catal Bar was previously located. The new stage & lawn area should be opening within the next few weeks while work continues on the Parkside Market and Din Tai Fung Chinese restaurant. No official opening date has been announced for any of the new restaurants but the expansion should be complete by the end of next year.

Conclusion

This Wednesday, November 8th is The Walt Disney Company’s fiscal year end and forth quarter earnings shareholder meeting so I am hoping for some announcements before or during this meeting. Bob Iger has hinted several times of an Avatar experience coming to the Disneyland Resort, but that is all of the information that he has shared. With a new fiscal year and plans to expand the Disney Parks over the next 10 years, I am hoping we will hear some “good” and “exciting” Disneyland news this week. Sometimes they release announcements before the shareholders meeting to ramp up the anticipation, but we’ll see.

I’ll be online watching the shareholders meeting webcast on Wednesday and sharing news as it is announced.
