The Disney Treasure completed its over 4,500 miles transatlantic journey this morning as it arrived at Port Canaveral, Florida. Upon entering the port, the iconic Disney ship horn echoed across the water energizing a crowd who was eagerly waiting ashore to get a first look at Disney Cruise Line’s newest addition to the fleet. Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie along with 250+ Disney cast members, media, and many spectators were ashore to welcome the ship with cheers.
The Disney Treasure will spend a few days in Port Canaveral gearing up for its christening in New York City on November 19, just a few weeks ahead of the maiden voyage on December 21, when the ship will welcome guests on board for the very first time.
Christening is a maritime tradition that brings good luck to the ship, its crew and all who sail on the vessel. So, before welcoming guests onboard, Disney Cruise Line will christen the Disney Treasure and it will be available to watch online on the Disney Parks Blog on November 19 at 8:00pm ET. Disney promises that the evening will be full of one-of-a-kind moments including a few special appearances and the first official look at the ship.
The Disney Treasure will offer 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries with the maiden voyage in December being an Eastern Caribbean cruise. The Eastern Caribbean itinerary will offer sailings to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Disney Castaway Cay. And, the Western Caribbean itinerary will offer sailings to Cozumel in Mexico, George Town in the Grand Cayman, Falmouth in Jamaica and Disney Castaway Cay.
