The Walt Disney Company has a reason to celebrate with Joy! Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 officially opened in theaters on Friday, June 14, 2024 and is already off to a great start at the Box Office with Thursday night previews. The film grossed $13 million domestically in Thursday night previews which has already set the film on course to be one of the top grossing movies of 2024. And if projections hold true, the film may finish the weekend as the top grossing movie of 2024.

Inside Out 2 introduces brand new emotions to the mind of Riley who is now a teenager. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust are running Riley’s emotions until Anxiety, a new emotion shows up. But Anxiety is not the only new emotion to join the team in Riley’s mind. The film also introduces more emotions moving into the headquarters like Ennui, Envy, Embarrassment and Nostalgia.

Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen. Amy Poehler returns as the voice of Joy along with Phyllis Smith as Sadness and Lewis Black as Anger. Tony Hale takes over as the new voice of Fear (previously voiced by Bill Hader) and Liza Lapira as the new voice of Disgust (previously voiced by Mindy Kaling). Maya Hawke makes her debut as the voice of Anxiety. Inside Out 2 is written by Dave Holstein and Meg LeFauve.
