After 23 magical years, the Disney Movie Club is officially closing later this year. Today, the club announced that the last day to order will be May 20, 2024 and all accounts will be closed on July 20, 2024.

This news comes a no shock considering how the consumer market has changed over the years. DVD and Blu-Ray sales have continuously dropped over the years as more consumers are streaming movies instead of purchasing physical copies.

Also, part of the reason Disney Movie Club is closing is because the company is moving their physical media production over to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This will be more streamlined and cost effective for The Walt Disney Company. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will handle the physical media production of discs and distribution.

About the Club

The Disney Movie Club is a subscription service that offers members access to purchase Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and Fox DVDs and Blu-Ray discs. To become a member, subscribers were required to purchase a certain number of DVD or Blu-Ray titles at full price but had an opportunity to purchase several movies during the sign up process for a reduced price which counted toward their commitment. However, due to the Disney Movie Club closing, the minimum purchase commitment for all members is deemed satisfied as of today, February 20, 2024.

Once the commitment was fulfilled, members were considered VIP members and had an opportunity to purchase new titles added to the club catalog plus receive a free gift like VIP pins and small lithographs produced exclusively for club members with their purchase.

Starting today, the club will be offering exceptional deals while supplies last. VIP pins are still available for free with a regular price title purchase. Head on over to DisneyMovieClub.com to find some great deals before the club closes.

The last day to send a return to the Disney Movie Club is September 20, 2024.

I’ll “see ya real soon” Mouseketeers!
