The newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Treasure, will start sailing 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries beginning late December 2024. The inaugural Eastern and Western Caribbean sailing is scheduled for December 28, 2024 – January 4, 2025 from Port Canaveral. But before Disney’s newest ship sets sail with guests, the ship is getting it’s finishing touches at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, the ships construction reached another milestone as the Disney Treasure floated out of the shipyard construction building to dock in the shipyard’s harbor. A scene of excitement greeted the ship, as a group of cheering spectators in Papenburg, Germany, gathered to watch the special construction milestone. The Float Out of the Disney Treasure celebrates the completion of the ship’s exterior and is a significant maritime tradition.
A tugboat led the way, guiding the ship’s stern through the narrow buildings doorway, which only allowed for three feet on either side of the vessel! Captain Minnie Mouse was at the shipyard to oversee the Float Out of the Disney Treasure which is now ready for the finishing touches to its interior venues before the ship begins its transatlantic journey to its future home port in Florida.
