Captain America: Brave New World soared into theaters over Presidents’ Day weekend bringing in $100 million at the domestic box office and an additional $92.4 million at global box offices. The Marvel Studios’ film opened on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025 as the top grossing film opening in 2025.

Despite critics ratings of only 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, audience ratings for the Marvel film are around 80% positive. The film is now the 4th highest-grossing Presidents’ Day weekend opening film behind three other Marvel films: Black Panther ($242 million in 2018), Deadpool ($152 million in 2016) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million in 2023).

Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America, Harrison Ford as U.S. President Thaddeus Ross / Red Hulk and Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres / Falcon. Sebastian Stan makes a cameo apperance as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier.

In the film, Sam Wilson has officially taken up the mantle of Captain America and finds himself in the middle of an international incident after meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross. Ross loses control of his emotions during a press conference and transforms into Red Hulk, destroying part of the White House. Captain America: Brave New World is the fourth installment in the Captain America film series and a continuation of the 2021 Disney+ miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In order to not give away any spoilers, I’m not going to share any other details about the plot of the film.
