Brand New Scene

A brand new scene will be added to the attraction with an all-new character, a robot named Buddy! Buddy is a support robot that will help guests prepare for their mission. During this new scene, guests will have a chance to practice shooting at targets before blasting off to defeat the Evil Emperor Zurg.

New Ride Vehicles

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin star cruisers will also receive a face lift with a new design inspired by the colors of Buzz Lightyear and Star Command. Each star cruiser will also be enhanced with video monitors that will provide real-time scoring updates and other exciting features.

Handheld Blasters

Each star cruiser will be enhanced to include handheld blasters for better aim which will help guests score more points when blasting targets. These enhanced blasters will also include two different color lasers—one color for each blaster in a star cruiser ride vehicle. The blasters will also feature new lighting along with sound and vibration effects to help guests with aiming and hitting targets.

Interactive Targets

The current static Z targets found in the Magic Kingdom attraction today will be upgraded with new technology that will allow them to react and light up when hit. This enhancement also opens the door for a few other ideas Disney Imagineers have in mind.

Are you excited to blast off into space with Buzz Lightyear and score points while defeating Zurg? The Tomorrowland attraction will temporarily close later this year in August 2025 to add these enhancements. The attraction will reopen in 2026.
