The timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort is changing this week with BIG updates and favorite characters from the franchise landing on Batuu. On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Darth Vader will land on the planet in search of the young Jedi Luke Skywalker. In addition, Luke will be joined by Leia Organa and Han Solo along with Chewbacca and R2-D2.

Where You’ll Find Batuu’s Newest Visitors
Darth Vader will be joined by Imperial Stormtroopers. The Sith Lord will roam around Black Spire Outpost as he seeks the elusive Jedi Luke Skywalker.
Luke Skywalker will also roam the outpost seeking knowledge of the Force and artifacts related to lightsaber building, kyber crystals, and more.
Leia Organa may be spotted near the Millennium Falcon, where she’ll recruit travelers and locals to help keep Luke safe.
Han Solo will linger around his prized ship, tempted by the local cantina. Han will be joined by Chewbacca as they keep watch over the Millennium Falcon.

Familiar friends will remain
These new visitors to Batuu will join familiar faces that guests have seen before in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as they patrol Black Spire Outpost. Near the marketplace, visitors to Batuu may encounter Ahsoka Tano and The Mandalorian and Grogu. And, a new mission is coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run on May 22, 2026 featuring adventures of The Mandalorian and Grogu from their new film releasing on the same day. So, guests can expect to see The Mandalorian and Grogu patrolling the outpost more often this Spring and Summer.

Age of the Resistance
The forested area on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost will continue to represent a time inspired by the Age of the Resistance. Visitors to Batuu may find Rey around this Resistance camp, and if you’re bold enough, become a hero yourself in a climactic battle with the First Order aboard Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. And throughout the area, guests will be be further transported into the world of Star Wars with the addition of the beloved scores from the first six films by legendary composer John Williams.
History of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland Park on May 31, 2019 with only one attraction, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, ready for guests to enjoy. A few months later during Phase Two of the land’s grand opening, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opened as the second attraction in Disneyland’s largest and newest land. While Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been popular with guests, it has also struggled to maintain foot traffic and extended guest visits.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of the resorts most popular attractions but guests haven’t been spending a lot of time on Batuu after experiencing the attraction. Disneyland Park can become grid-locked with guest traffic in many areas of the park with the exception of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and with these BIG changes happening this week, Disney is hoping more guests will visit the Outer Rim and stay in the land longer than before.
Enhancements to Local Establishments and Shops
As Batuu’s history is represented with new storylines, guests may notice some updates to buildings and shops throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
First Order Cargo will transform into Black Spire Surplus, a military salvage operation offering artifacts from across the history of the galaxy, including Imperial and Rebel items from the Galactic Civil War.
As antiquities shops often do, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will display a different array of one-of-a-kind items from its past. The curiosities and artifacts in his shop will certainly change with the times.
An earlier generation of the Mubo family will operate Droid Depot, where they will be prototyping the BB style of droid. Visitors to Batuu will still have the opportunity to purchase and create your own droid companion at this shop.
In his search for information on lightsabers and the Force, Luke Skywalker will be interested in meeting with Savi. At Savi’s Workshop in the marketplace, guests will continue to have an opportunity to purchase and build their very own lightsaber under the guidance of Savi’s Gatherers.
Entertainment and Food
Most of the entertainment and food around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will remain the same with favorites like blue milk and ronto wraps still available for purchase. As night falls on Batuu, the legendary story of the Skywalkers projection show “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” will continue with “Fire of the Rising Moons” also being offered on select nights when Disneyland Park fireworks light up the sky.
