The expansion of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort began earlier this year and the campus will soon double in size with two brand new attractions where guests will suit up and fight alongside some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Avengers Infinity Defense

With the one attraction, Avengers Infinity Defense, you’ll assemble with the Avengers and battle King Thanos across multiple worlds. Join alongside the likes of Black Panther, Ant-Man, Hulk, and so many other favorites to save the universe – again.

Avengers Campus will double in size at Disney California Adventure - Stark Flight Lab

But you can’t just wake up one day and know the ins and outs of battling like an Avenger. You’ve got to train. So, the second attraction going into Avengers Campus, Stark Flight Lab, will put you inside Tony Stark’s workshop to check out some of the new tech he’s working on and allow you to test it out yourself. For this experience, Disney Imagineers are creating a first-of-its-kind ride system that transfers guests from a vehicle on a track to a robot arm and back again. Inspired by the character of Tony Stark as an inventor, Imagineers are putting this technology in the center of the attraction, making it a highly visible part of the storytelling.

In Stark Flight Lab, guests will sit in “gyro-kinetic pods” and roll along a track before stopping in front of a giant robot arm. This robot arm will hoist you into the air where you’ll make several high-speed maneuvers inspired by Iron Man and some of the other Avengers.

And, a familiar face will join you at the Stark Flight Lab — Tony Stark himself. Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Tony Stark for the attraction. And, he is working closely with Walt Disney Imagineering to bring these new experiences to Avengers Campus.

Once the expansion has been completed, guests will enter the expanded campus area beside the Avengers Headquarters. Since the majority of the construction for the expansion will be behind the Avengers Headquarters building, there should be very little disruption to the current day to day operation of Avengers Campus. An opening date for the expansion and the two new attractions has not been announced at this time. And, since construction only began earlier this year, it will be at least a year or two (probably two) before the expanded area opens.
